Water Vapor Permeation Testing of Solar Cell Backsheet Film plays the most important role on the quality control of solar cells. The backsheet can protect the photovoltaic components, like solar panel. The main quality of the backsheet is determined by its water vapor barrier property. If the backsheet can not block the water vapor in the air, the vapor will enter and break the bonding force between EVA layer and the panel. When the water vapor contact with solar panel directly, the solar panel will be oxidated and lose its function of generating current.

The popular backsheet are TPT, it consists of 3 layers (Tedlar/PET/Tedlar). The TPT is adhered using EVA. So besides the water vapor transmission rate of the TPT, we should control the bonding force of the EVA and TPT layers. And the BBF developed by 3M is another famous backsheet.

Currently, international community pays more and more attention to the environmental conservation and energy saving industries. This means the solar cells industry is growing, and maybe one day it will be the main energy industry in the world. This is why we should talk about the quality control of the components of solar cells, especially the backsheet film.
